MPN awareness
Since being diagnosed with this debilitating cancer, Col. Verniero has made it his mission to spread awareness and offer information.
Myeloproliferative neoplasms (MY-ah-lo-pro-LIF-er-uh-tiv NEE-o-plaz-uhms), or MPNs, are a group of rare, chronic blood cancers in which a person’s bone marrow does not function properly. Bone marrow is a spongy tissue inside of the bone, and is the primary place where blood cells are made. In people with MPNs there is an abnormal production of these blood cells. This can cause a host of symptoms and complications.
Mutations in certain genes, are speculated to be a major cause of what are known as Philadelphia chromosome–negative MPNs, or “classical” MPNs. Even those who do not possess these mutations may have MPNs.
disability rights
The Verniero Commission is on a mission to help the disabled community better provide for themselves. Samuel Verniero, Jr. offers his time and services as a councilman to the Georgia divisions of SILC and SRC which are federally mandated councils aimed at improving the lives of the the disabled and helping them on the road to independence.
elderly abuse and exploitation
At The Verniero Commission, we are dedicated to stepping up our efforts in addressing the issue of elderly abuse and exploitation. Every year billions of dollars are stolen from our elderdy, not to mention the unspeaks phyical and mental abuse that goes unchecked. Speaking with Governors, Ministers, Prince/Princesses, Emperors around the world by no means an easy feat, but through cooperation and community empowerment. We believe we can facilitate progress in this area. Steps are being taken to create new legislation to fill the tremendous gap that exists for the “in-home” care elders. “Lets challenge and push our Congressmen, Representatives and Senators to create legislation to protect this vulnerable part of our population. Systemic change for better Elder Protection and proper Polycythemia Vera Cancer Awareness is needed, our elected officials are the ones to help us all.”- Col. Samuel Verniero
